Job Overview: Graduate Mine Surveyor
As a Graduate Mine Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting mining operations by ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental policies while utilizing cutting-edge technology. This position is perfect for someone who is eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Barrick’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
- Participate in developing a strong safety and environmental culture on site.
- Perform surveys related to mine engineering, geotechnical, and geological designs.
- Conduct Bathymetric surveys of tailing storage facilities and other water bodies within the mine.
- Assist in data collection, reconciliation, and reporting for End-of-Month tasks.
- Provide as-built surveys and maintain updated underground and surface mining plans.
- Utilize modern surveying equipment such as Drones, GNSS receivers, Total Stations, and Laser Scanners.
- Ensure the proper management of survey data and its safe storage in databases.
- Supervise and coach Survey Technicians and Survey Assistants.
- Assist in the auditing of surveying activities and maintain equipment in serviceable condition.
Qualifications and Competencies
To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Geomatics or Land Surveying.
- 3 months to 1 year of experience in civil construction or mining projects.
- Practical experience in both underground and open-pit mining environments.
- Familiarity with modern surveying equipment and software such as Geovia Surpac, Maptek, Datamine, and AutoCAD 3D.
- Valid Tanzanian driver’s license and passport.
- Holding a Remote Drone Pilot Certificate is an added advantage.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental sustainability.
