Overview of the Role
The Project Driver plays a crucial role in the success of Jhpiego’s projects by providing safe, reliable transportation for staff, consultants, and program participants. In addition to driving, the position involves logistical and operational support, helping to coordinate field activities, training events, and ensuring that office operations run efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Program Support:
- Collaborate with field and technical teams to ensure the timely execution of project activities.
- Assist in organizing program training, including identifying venues and arranging logistics.
- Support the preparation of annual health plans and budgets, ensuring all activities align with Jhpiego’s strategies.
- Provide administrative support, including organizing travel arrangements and maintaining program service vendor contracts.
Driving Duties:
- Safely transport project staff, partners, and consultants, strictly adhering to Jhpiego and Tanzanian vehicle management policies.
- Maintain accurate vehicle logs, report any incidents or accidents immediately, and ensure the vehicle is always in safe condition.
- Track vehicle maintenance and servicing needs, ensuring that the vehicle remains operable and well-maintained at all times.
Office Support:
- Assist in routine office duties as assigned, including document filing and office communication.
- Provide support to the regional manager and senior staff in daily administrative tasks.
Required Qualifications
To be considered for the Project Driver position, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Secondary school education.
- A valid Tanzanian Driver’s License (Class C).
- A minimum of five years of driving experience, preferably with an international organization.
- Advanced Driving Certificate from the National Institute of Transport (NIT).
- Proficiency in both English and Swahili (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Ability to handle various assignments under tight deadlines, with a cooperative, hardworking, and adaptable personality.
