Background
SoCha LLC is seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID/Tanzania Strengthening the Capacity of Local Organizations Activity. This multi-year initiative aims to enhance the capacity of local organizations in Tanzania, including local USAID partners, to effectively and sustainably implement and manage development services
Scope of Work
As the Chief of Party, you will:
- Lead the project team and oversee overall project implementation and management.
- Provide strategic direction and managerial oversight of the project.
- Ensure quality control and responsiveness of all contract deliverables.
- Manage and supervise the work of project staff, subcontractors, and grantees.
- Serve as the primary contact for USAID, implementing partners, and local stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including USAID representatives, local partners, and government officials.
- Make key decisions and solve problems swiftly while ensuring operational integrity.
- Manage the activity’s financial resources according to the project budget and USAID policies.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Advanced degree in international development, statistics, economics, or a related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible project management experience for donor-funded projects, preferably in East Africa.
- At least 5 years of COP or equivalent leadership experience on capacity strengthening donor-funded projects, ideally USAID-funded.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing capacity strengthening activities for civil society organizations or local government.
- Previous experience with transition awards or supporting local partners in receiving direct donor funding preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and oral presentation skills.
- Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English; proficiency in Swahili preferred.
- Location Experience: Working experience in Tanzania preferred.
- Nationality: This position is open to both local nationals and expatriates.
