Position Summary:
The Truck Fleet Operation Manager will be the backbone of our fleet operations, responsible for ensuring the efficient use of our trucks and drivers while maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance. The role encompasses everything from vehicle maintenance to route optimization and driver management, requiring a strategic mindset and strong operational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Planning and Management:
- Develop comprehensive strategies to optimize fleet efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Create and manage weekly truck dispatch plans, ensuring seamless logistics.
- Continuously monitor the condition of the fleet to ensure smooth operations.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Oversee regular preventive maintenance and repairs to guarantee the reliability and safety of all vehicles.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure timely inspections and servicing.
Driver Management:
- Recruit, train, and manage drivers, ensuring they meet company standards for safety, customer service, and performance.
- Develop performance metrics for drivers and provide feedback to enhance their efficiency.
Route Optimization:
- Plan and implement efficient routes to maximize fuel savings and minimize operational costs.
- Leverage technology to optimize delivery times and resource use.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure full compliance with all transportation regulations, including safety standards, vehicle licensing, and environmental guidelines.
- Keep the company updated on the latest industry regulations and adapt policies as needed.
Cost Control:
- Monitor operating costs such as fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and insurance premiums, ensuring the fleet operates within budget.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives where possible without compromising on quality or safety.
Performance Analysis:
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement.
- Use data to optimize fleet performance, reduce downtime, and increase profitability.
Technology Implementation:
- Stay current with advancements in fleet management technology and introduce systems to improve operations.
- Implement fleet management software to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in truck fleet management.
- In-depth knowledge of the transportation industry and its regulations.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and tools.
- Willingness to relocate to Arusha.
