About the Community Officer Role
We are seeking highly motivated Community Officers to join our Kahama, Shinyanga location. Reporting to the Community Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in managing community relations and overseeing the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning and execution of CSR projects to benefit the local community.
- Develop and maintain the Local Employment Plan in accordance with Barrick’s standards.
- Handle grievances related to mining operations and work to resolve them fairly and efficiently.
- Develop and maintain the Stakeholder Engagement Plan, ensuring effective communication with all parties.
- Coordinate community engagement, including mediation and consensus-building.
- Evaluate and resolve community-related issues while proposing alternative solutions when needed.
Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor’s degree in social studies, community relations, or a related field.
- A valid Tanzanian driving license and the ability to drive manual vehicles (this is mandatory).
- 2 years of experience in community development or public relations, ideally in the mining or related industry.
- A clean driving record with 2-3 years of experience.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of grievance and conflict resolution practices is highly advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and report writing skills.
