Chemonics International Inc., a U.S.-based consulting firm specializing in international development, seeks a Procurement and Logistics Assistant for the USAID Lishe (Nutrition) project in Tanzania. This five-year project focuses on enhancing health and food market systems, encouraging optimal nutrition practices among communities in targeted regions.

Position Overview

Based in Rukwa, Tanzania, the Procurement and Logistics Assistant will support the USAID Lishe project by managing procurement processes and overseeing logistical arrangements. Reporting to the Dar es Salaam-based Office Manager, the role will involve working closely with regional and technical teams to ensure smooth execution of procurement and travel logistics.


Key Responsibilities

Procurement:

  • Track and update inventory of project assets.
  • Assist in gathering quotes, conducting market research, and drafting procurement documents, while adhering to USAID and Chemonics policies.
  • Monitor service agreements, ensuring timely renewals and compliance.

Logistics:

  • Organize hotel bookings and air travel for project staff.
  • Coordinate road travel and assign project drivers, verifying vehicle usage.
  • Maintain administrative support in areas such as office security, maintenance, and vehicle management.
  • Facilitate a positive, collaborative work environment while adhering to project standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years in procurement or two years on a USAID-funded project.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with USAID procurement regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills in English.
