About the Role
WFP Tanzania seeks a motivated Communications Officer to join the team in Dar es Salaam. Reporting to the Head of Communications, Marketing, and Advocacy/Partnerships, this role involves implementing communication strategies that promote WFP’s visibility, enhance its reputation, and engage stakeholders effectively in alignment with WFP’s Country Strategic Plan (2022-27).
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications
- Support the implementation of communication strategies and work plans to enhance WFP’s visibility and fundraising activities.
Content Creation
- Develop high-quality materials for print and digital platforms, including newsletters, fact sheets, and briefs.
- Produce audiovisual content (photos, videos) and write engaging human-interest stories to showcase WFP’s work.
Media Relations
- Build relationships with local and international media outlets to amplify WFP’s voice.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage to inform and refine communication strategies.
Social Media Management
- Create engaging content and manage WFP Tanzania’s social media platforms, including the official Twitter account.
Event Coordination
- Organize visibility events such as handover ceremonies and agreement signings in collaboration with donors and stakeholders.
Branding & Visual Identity
- Ensure consistency in WFP’s branding across all materials, publications, and signage.
Capacity Building
- Train WFP staff on communication practices to maintain high-quality and consistent output.
Emergency Preparedness
- Support emergency response efforts to ensure the rapid and effective delivery of resources during crises.
Candidate Profile
Education
- Advanced university degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in communications, preferably in a humanitarian or development organization.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong writing, editing, and content development abilities.
- Proficiency in social media management and digital content creation.
- Excellent interpersonal and media engagement skills.
- Knowledge of graphic design and audiovisual production is an advantage.
