PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role involves leading the mineral resource evaluation processes to deliver on GGML’s budget and Life of Mine (LOM) plan. The position requires management of geological data, drilling, sampling, assay standards, and quality assurance systems. The incumbent will deliver resource and grade control models for short-term and long-term mine planning and manage geometallurgical strategies aligned with the company’s objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology or an equivalent field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in Geology are preferred.
- Registration with the Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) or an equivalent professional body.
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of five (5) years in a similar role, preferably in mine geology and exploration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Expertise in sampling, assaying, and drilling methodologies.
- Broad knowledge of mining disciplines, including Geotechnical, Processing, and Financial Analysis.
- Proficiency in grade control, production/mining practices, and Mine-to-Mill reconciliation processes.
- Familiarity with mining software such as Datamine, Leapfrog, and Geovariance (Isatis).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Ensure High Standards in Drilling and Sampling:
- Develop and maintain QA/QC programs to achieve best practices in drilling, surveying, sampling, and assay processes.
- Establish a robust sample dispatch tracking system.
Geological Database Management:
- Oversee the adherence to data collection standards and maintain accurate drillhole databases.
Resource and Grade Control Models:
- Deliver high-quality resource and grade control models for mine planning.
- Conduct variance analysis and reconciliation of models.
- Facilitate resource and reserve reviews and audits.
Budgeting and Planning:
- Develop annual budgets aligned with operational goals and mitigate risks affecting delivery.
Contract Management:
- Manage assay contracts to achieve excellence in productivity, cost-efficiency, and quality.
Performance Monitoring:
- Implement effective reporting systems to track performance against targets.
Geometallurgical Strategy:
- Develop and update geometallurgical strategies ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Organizational Capability:
- Build and maintain a capable team with clear development plans to meet organizational goals.
Compliance with HSE Standards:
- Implement and ensure compliance with GGML’s HSE policies and systems.
