Position Overview

Title: Monitoring Assistant
Location: Dodoma Liaison Office, Tanzania
Contract Type: Full-time
Reporting To: Monitoring Associate in consultation with the Head of Office and Head of RAM

Purpose:
The Monitoring Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring effective implementation and monitoring of WFP programs in Dodoma. The position involves analyzing data, providing actionable insights, and collaborating with local stakeholders to improve program outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement monthly monitoring plans in consultation with the Head of Field Office and RAM.
  • Monitor WFP activities and assess partner performance to meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate field-level data collection, ensuring alignment with corporate standards.
  • Collect and analyze monitoring data using quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Work closely with local governments, NGOs, and community leaders to gather and summarize data.
  • Prepare detailed monitoring reports and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance program efficiency.
  • Train cooperating partners on monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines, data protection policies, and WFP’s corporate results framework.
  • Collaborate with the Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) manager to address beneficiary concerns.

Qualifications and Skills

Education:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Post-secondary certification in a related field is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, economics, rural development, nutrition, statistics, or related fields is an advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 4 years of monitoring or operational experience, including data collection and analysis.
  • Familiarity with implementing food security, resilience, or livelihoods programs.
  • Experience in sustainable farming systems and environmental conservation practices is a plus.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in data analysis using tools like Excel and SPSS.
  • Strong problem-solving and reporting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Language:

  • Fluency in English and Swahili (written and spoken).
