Position: Electrical/Solar Power Technician

Location: Arusha Office (with 80% travel to lodges and camps)
Reports to: Technical Manager

As an Electrical/Solar Power Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and solar power systems across all Asilia properties. Your role will focus on ensuring safety, efficiency, and optimal performance while supporting sustainability goals.


Key Responsibilities

Camps and Lodges Duties:

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair solar power systems, including inverters, batteries, modules, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on general electrical systems, refrigeration units, solar water heaters, and kitchen appliances.
  • Assess solar power systems, conduct testing, and analyze performance data.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize electrical and solar installations for maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of all electrical and solar systems, including maintenance schedules.
  • Create detailed technical reports and drawings to support system documentation and communication.
  • Implement maintenance strategies for properties and oversee outsourced service providers' work.
  • Inspect and maintain backup systems such as generators to ensure readiness during outages.
  • Provide technical training to team members and ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Design and install new electrical and solar systems collaboratively with teams.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all water heating systems, including heat pumps.
  • Travel flexibly to Asilia properties across Tanzania to support various projects.

Arusha Office Duties:

  • Conduct routine maintenance of electrical systems and infrastructure at the base.
  • Repair and maintain equipment sent from camps and other properties.
  • Install and repair electrical systems in office environments.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintained and received assets.
  • Oversee Planned Preventive Maintenance services provided by external contractors.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports on system performance and condition.
  • Implement maintenance strategies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with other relevant duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Diploma in Renewable Energy or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in solar power systems, particularly in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Expertise with solar power components such as inverters, PV modules, and batteries.
  • Strong diagnostic and technical analysis skills for system performance and efficiency.
  • Proven knowledge of preventive maintenance strategies and asset management.
  • Commitment to safety standards and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work in remote locations.
