We are looking for an experienced and proactive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to drive excellence in compliance, safety culture, and operational sustainability across our multi-industry business operations.

Your Mission:
As our HSE Manager, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our health, safety, and environmental programs. Your role will ensure compliance with Tanzanian HSE regulations, oversee ISO certifications, and promote a culture of safety across diverse business sectors, including construction, logistics, heavy machinery repairs, warehousing, clearing & forwarding, and security services.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Safety Management:
Ensure strict adherence to Tanzanian Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) standards, the Environmental Management Act (EMA), and other relevant laws.
Secure and maintain all necessary permits, licenses, and certifications.
Conduct routine compliance audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective measures.
Liaise with regulatory bodies such as OSHA, NEMC, and fire authorities to ensure seamless compliance.
ISO Certification & Quality Standards:
Lead the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 9001 (Quality Management) certifications.
Perform gap analyses, create action plans, and oversee compliance across all business units.
Train employees and management teams on ISO processes, ensuring company-wide adoption and adherence.
Proactive Safety & Risk Management:
Design and implement robust HSE programs tailored to each operational sector.
Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and enforce corrective/preventive measures.
Foster a "safety-first" culture through employee training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
Establish and oversee emergency response plans, fire safety procedures, and first-aid preparedness.
Industry-Specific Safety Implementation:
Construction: Enforce strict safety protocols, including PPE compliance, machinery operation, scaffolding, and site safety.
ICD & Warehousing: Implement best practices for safe handling, storage, transport, and risk mitigation (fire, chemical, ergonomic risks).
Heavy Machinery Repairs: Develop stringent safety protocols for maintenance, operation, and accident prevention.
Clearing & Forwarding: Ensure safety measures in cargo handling, logistics operations, and customs processes.
Security Services: Design safety procedures for personnel, including emergency response and safe handling of equipment.
Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
Conduct frequent HSE audits and inspections to drive operational excellence.
Maintain records of incidents, near-misses, and compliance violations, ensuring timely investigation and resolution.
Develop and present detailed HSE reports to management with actionable insights for improvement.
Stay ahead of industry trends to integrate innovative solutions into HSE practices.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of safety.
Serve as the primary contact for HSE matters during audits, inspections, and client meetings.
Strengthen partnerships with regulatory bodies, ensuring alignment with evolving laws and industry standards.
Who You Are:
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, NOSHC-1/NOSHC-2, IOSH, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of Tanzanian OSHA regulations, EMA, and ISO standards.
Demonstrated experience in HSE leadership, preferably across diverse industries (construction, logistics, heavy machinery, warehousing, and security services).
Proven track record in successfully leading ISO certification projects.
