Role Overview
Britam Insurance is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented individual to join our team as a Business Development Associate. This role is instrumental in driving branch growth by acquiring new customers and ensuring customer retention to meet the annual premium targets. Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence while delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business acquisition, either directly or through intermediaries.
- Ensure renewal of existing business and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to both intermediaries and direct clients.
- Conduct initial underwriting in line with established guidelines to ensure sound risk acceptance.
- Guarantee timely premium collection before policy issuance.
- Facilitate accurate and prompt commission payments to intermediaries.
- Expand the business portfolio by recruiting new agents, brokers, and direct clients, and fostering growth through Bancassurance partnerships.
- Provide training, coaching, and support to intermediaries to achieve sales objectives.
- Adhere strictly to underwriting guidelines and standards as directed by the Underwriting Manager.
- Prepare daily sales reports for the Sales Manager and other reports requested by management.
- Guide clients through the claims processing procedure.
- Consistently meet performance benchmarks as outlined in the company’s strategy and personal scorecard.
Key Performance Indicators
- Achievement of set production targets.
- High levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
Collaboration and Relationships
Internal Stakeholders:
- Reports to the Sales Manager.
- Works closely with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, and other departments as needed.
External Stakeholders:
- Intermediaries (Agents and SFE’s).
- Regulatory bodies, including TIRA.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is essential.
- Professional insurance qualifications (CII certificate or equivalent) are an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least one year of experience in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, its regulatory framework, and sales/marketing principles.
