Rooted in compassion, kindness, and love, we serve women of all backgrounds, races, and religions. Our operations are based at Kivulini Maternity Centre, situated near Arusha in Northern Tanzania.
Role Overview
As a Volunteer Nurse-Midwife, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional maternal care, including antenatal, postnatal, and delivery services, as well as supporting birth injury treatments like fistula surgeries. This role demands professionalism, empathy, and a passion for continuous learning. Through local and international mentorship, we provide opportunities for skill enhancement and career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer comprehensive prenatal and postnatal care to pregnant women.
- Provide assistance during labor and delivery to ensure the safety of both mother and newborn.
- Conduct routine gynecological assessments and care.
- Educate patients on parenting, family planning, and reproductive health.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams and refer patients to specialists when needed.
- Diagnose and manage medical conditions related to maternal health.
- Offer emotional support to expectant and new mothers.
- Administer vaccinations for children under five and provide family planning services.
- Train and mentor student midwives and document case reports.
- Manage high-risk pregnancies and obstetric emergencies.
- Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery (minimum requirement).
- Active registration with the Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC).
- Valid practicing license.
- Proficiency in handling obstetric emergencies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster trust with patients.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- A compassionate approach, embodying kindness and respect.
- Fluency in both English and Kiswahili, with strong communication abilities.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
