About UONGOZI Institute
UONGOZI Institute, formally known as the Institute of African Leadership for Sustainable Development, serves as a premier leadership development center in Africa. Operating under the Office of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Institute was founded in 2010 through a collaboration between the Governments of Tanzania and Finland. Its mission is to empower African leaders to create inclusive and sustainable development solutions for their countries and the continent at large.

With its core focus on leadership and sustainable development, the Institute drives impact through four key areas:

The Institute is currently inviting applications for internship opportunities in its Finance, Training, and Communications departments. These positions are based in Dar es Salaam and offer an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional environment.


Available Internship Positions

1. Finance Intern (1 Position)

Role Summary:
As part of the Corporate Services Department, the Finance Intern will support the implementation of financial and accounting functions under the guidance of the Senior Accountant.


2. Training Intern (2 Positions)

Role Summary:
Working within the Executive Education Department, Training Interns will assist in coordinating, developing, and delivering executive education programs targeted at leaders across Tanzania and Africa. The interns will report to the Senior Programme Delivery Officer.


3. Communications Intern (1 Position)

Role Summary:
The Communications Intern will contribute to public relations efforts by supporting campaigns and initiatives aimed at enhancing the Institute’s visibility and reputation. This role is under the Public Relations and Communications Unit, reporting directly to the Communications Officer.


Key Details

Internship Duration:
The internship engagement is for up to one year, subject to performance and organizational needs. Some assignments may require travel.

General Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and internet research.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Swahili.
  • Previous volunteering experience is an added advantage, but not mandatory.
