About The Blue Alliance
The Blue Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation and sustainable economic development. We collaborate with governments to establish and manage Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), aiming to restore coral reef ecosystems while promoting Blue Economy businesses that benefit local communities.
In partnership with the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, we work towards environmental sustainability, regulatory compliance, and the advancement of a marine-based economy. As we continue expanding our impact, we are seeking a Finance & Administration Officer to play a key role in financial management, compliance, and administrative operations.
Position: Finance & Administration Officer
This role is critical in maintaining financial health, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing office administration to support the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Financial Management & Reporting
- Process purchase orders (POs) and ensure approvals before making payments.
- Reconcile bank accounts and manage accounts payable/receivable balances.
- Assist in monthly financial verifications and closing procedures.
🔹 Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with statutory financial regulations.
- File statutory obligations, including TRA, ZRA, and ZSSF.
- Stay up to date with tax laws, levies, and financial regulations in Zanzibar.
- Implement internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and prevent fraud.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation.
🔹 Administrative & Office Management
- Provide administrative support to teams, including meeting coordination and correspondence management.
- Organize travel, transport, and accommodation for staff.
- Oversee office assets, including vehicle and motorcycle logbooks, utilities, and the fixed asset registry.
- Assist in organizing company events, workshops, and conferences.
- Ensure compliance with administrative policies and report any non-compliance issues.
- Maintain structured online and hard-copy filing systems.
🔹 Procurement Coordination
- Manage purchase order development and dispatch.
- Facilitate procurement processes while ensuring policy adherence and documentation accuracy.
- Use appropriate procurement forms and follow organizational purchasing procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications
🎓 Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or auditing.
💼 Technical & Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Zanzibar tax laws and regulations is a plus.
