Position Overview

Job Title: Relationship Officer II
Department: Retail and SME Banking
Section: Branch Network
Reporting To: Branch Manager
Work Location: Upcountry

Role Purpose

The Relationship Officer II is responsible for developing and maintaining strong customer relationships while driving sales of bank products and services. This role involves customer acquisition, deposit mobilization, loan portfolio management, and ensuring superior service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of clients, cross-selling bank products to meet set targets.
  • Identify and onboard new clients to expand the bank’s deposit and loan portfolio.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service while resolving inquiries and complaints effectively.
  • Recommend new banking products and services based on market needs.
  • Drive loan portfolio growth while ensuring high portfolio quality.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to improve loan performance and profitability.
  • Assess and verify loan applications, ensuring adherence to bank policies before approval.
  • Maintain turnaround time for loan processing in line with lending guidelines.
  • Conduct customer visits and engagement activities to enhance relationships and mobilize deposits.
  • Monitor industry trends to capitalize on business opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with banking policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in branch sales planning, pipeline reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Represent the bank at corporate, community, and networking events to promote financial solutions.
  • Execute other tasks as assigned by the Branch Manager.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Banking, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy, Entrepreneurship, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Banking & Financial Knowledge: Strong understanding of banking operations, financial markets, and regulatory frameworks in Tanzania.
  • Sales & Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and sustain profitable customer relationships.
  • Loan Portfolio Management: Experience in managing SME portfolios, assessing credit risk, and loan processing.
  • Communication & Analytical Skills: Strong report writing, presentation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
