Mwanga Hakika Bank (MHB) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead business growth initiatives at the regional level. This role is essential in driving loans and advances growth, deposit mobilization, trade finance business, Bancassurance, and the development of alternative banking products.
Role Overview
The Business Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing all sales activities, providing guidance to the Branch Sales Team, and ensuring the effective execution of business strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in banking operations, relationship management, and business acquisition.
Key Responsibilities
A. Business Acquisition & Customer Recruitment
- Identify and attract corporate clients, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience.
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships by engaging with existing clients and enhancing their banking experience.
- Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for business growth in Loans, Deposits, Trade Finance, and other banking products.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Banking team to develop tailored products that align with regional business needs.
- Engage with the Retail Banking Department to identify cross-selling opportunities under the One Bank Concept.
- Respond to customer inquiries and ensure timely resolution of business-related issues.
B. Deposit Mobilization (Low-Cost Deposits)
- Develop and implement deposit growth strategies based on market dynamics.
- Lead deposit mobilization campaigns to drive customer engagement and enhance deposit acquisition.
- Actively pursue new deposit opportunities, ensuring the bank meets its deposit targets.
- Monitor and support branch-level initiatives that contribute to deposit growth and retention.
C. Cross-Selling & Product Promotion
- Promote and cross-sell banking products such as Mobile Banking, Internet Banking, Agent Banking, Insurance, Loans, FX, Trade Finance, and Fund Transfers.
- Gather and analyze market intelligence to stay ahead of the competition and meet evolving customer needs.
D. Relationship Management
- Lead customer engagement initiatives at the branch level to strengthen relationships and customer retention.
- Maintain regular contact with existing and potential clients, fostering trust and loyalty.
- Develop strategies for customer onboarding and retention, ensuring steady portfolio growth.
- Participate in corporate events and client interactions to enhance customer engagement and business development.
- Ensure active customer participation to reduce attrition and improve profitability.
E. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain an up-to-date database of high-net-worth customers and potential business leads.
- Track business growth and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring sales and revenue targets are met.
- Assist in loan processing and recovery, ensuring quick turnaround times for credit approvals.
- Monitor Corporate Loan performance, minimizing Non-Performing Loans (NPLs) and ensuring effective risk management.
- Support the Stressed Asset Management Unit in recovering problem loans efficiently.
F. Coaching & Mentoring
- Provide coaching and mentorship to branch sales teams, ensuring performance improvement.
- Regularly assess sales team performance and implement strategies for target achievement.
G. Additional Responsibilities
- Contribute to the branch budget planning for sales and marketing activities.
- Prepare and present business reports and proposals for management approval.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of banking experience, preferably in business development, sales, or branch operations.
- Strong understanding of banking regulations, financial products, and risk management.
- Excellent knowledge of customer relationship management, sales strategies, and financial analysis.
