Role Overview
The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of BioBuu’s fleet of heavy-duty vehicles. This role demands hands-on expertise in vehicle maintenance, strategic fleet optimization, and driver supervision, all while maintaining top-tier safety and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
🚗 Fleet Operations & Optimization
✔ Oversee daily fleet operations, including vehicle scheduling, routing, and driver coordination.
✔ Develop strategies to maximize vehicle efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve delivery performance.
✔ Track and analyze key fleet performance metrics such as fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and vehicle utilization.
🔧 Vehicle Maintenance & Technical Oversight
✔ Design and implement a preventive and corrective maintenance program for heavy-duty vehicles.
✔ Work closely with mechanics, technicians, and external service providers to diagnose issues and execute timely repairs.
✔ Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, servicing schedules, and repairs.
✔ Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
💰 Budget & Resource Management
✔ Manage the fleet maintenance budget, balancing cost efficiency with operational effectiveness.
✔ Forecast maintenance needs and plan for capital expenditures on fleet upgrades.
🚛 Driver Management & Training
✔ Supervise, support, and train drivers to adhere to safety policies and driving best practices.
✔ Develop and implement driver training programs focusing on safe driving techniques and basic vehicle maintenance checks.
✔ Address driver concerns and ensure a high-performance, safety-first culture.
⚖️ Regulatory Compliance & Safety
✔ Stay updated on industry regulations and legal requirements for fleet operations.
✔ Ensure all vehicles comply with licensing, insurance, and inspection protocols.
✔ Conduct regular fleet safety audits to uphold company and regulatory standards.
What We’re Looking For
🎓 Education & Certification
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
✔ Certifications in Automotive or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred).
🏆 Experience & Technical Skills
✔ 5+ years’ experience in fleet management, specifically overseeing large vehicle fleets.
✔ Strong expertise in vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and troubleshooting for heavy-duty vehicles.
✔ Proven track record in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs.
✔ Proficiency in fleet management software and maintenance scheduling tools.
✔ Knowledge of Tanzanian logistics, transportation market, and regulatory framework (preferred).
