Resident Engineer Job Opportunity at TANROADS
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is a government agency under the Ministry of Works, responsible for managing Tanzania mainland’s trunk and regional road networks, as well as overseeing airport construction projects.
As part of its commitment to infrastructure development, TANROADS Mwanza is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and experienced professional for the position of Resident Engineer on a contractual basis for the Simiyu Bridge (150m) and 3km approach road construction project.
Position: Resident Engineer (1 Post)
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) as a Professional Engineer and possess a valid practicing certificate.
- A postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of cumulative experience in road and bridge design, supervision, and contract administration, particularly under FIDIC Conditions of Contract.
- Proven track record as a Resident Engineer or in a similar leadership role for at least three (3) road construction projects of similar scope over the past decade.
- Strong command of written and spoken English is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all technical and administrative operations on-site as the lead project representative.
- Supervise the contractor’s work to ensure adherence to the approved work plan and contractual obligations.
- Manage quality control, project contracts, and monthly progress reporting.
- Review and process contractor invoices, ensuring timely payments.
- Organize and participate in site meetings, preparing comprehensive minutes and reports.
- Monitor compliance with social and environmental impact mitigation measures, working closely with TANROADS’ Environmental Specialist.
- Maintain accurate and updated project records, including reports, work diaries, correspondences, test records, measurements, payment logs, and other essential documentation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager (PM).
