Position: Student Experience & Safeguarding Lead
📌 Reporting to: School Principal & Senior Leadership Team
Role Overview
This critical role ensures the safety, well-being, and positive student experience within AKES, T schools. The Student Experience & Safeguarding Lead will oversee child protection, safeguarding policies, and pastoral care, ensuring that students and staff thrive in a secure and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Safeguarding & Child Protection
- Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), ensuring compliance with child protection policies.
- Provide guidance and training to staff, students, and parents on safeguarding best practices.
- Work closely with school leadership and external agencies to respond to and manage safeguarding concerns.
✔ Student Well-being & Pastoral Care
- Develop and implement initiatives that enhance student experience and emotional well-being.
- Establish a “Culture of Care”, ensuring students feel supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
- Address student behavior, mental health concerns, and pastoral issues proactively.
✔ Policy Implementation & Monitoring
- Regularly review and update safeguarding policies to align with international and national child protection standards.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential safety concerns and develop action plans.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of policies, reporting insights to school leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
📌 Educational Background:
✔ A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Child Protection, or a related field.
✔ Additional certifications in safeguarding, child protection, or student welfare are an advantage.
📌 Professional Experience:
✔ At least 3–5 years of experience in safeguarding, student welfare, or pastoral care within an educational institution.
✔ Strong knowledge of child protection laws, safeguarding frameworks, and risk assessment procedures.
✔ Experience in training staff and stakeholders on safeguarding protocols.
✔ Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
