Introduction

ABSA Bank Tanzania Limited is seeking a qualified Post Write-Off Recoveries Officer to manage and monitor post write-off debt portfolios, ensuring cost-effective legal recovery of outstanding balances. Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Management

  • Debt Recovery: Negotiate and manage payment arrangements on delinquent accounts to optimize recoveries.

  • Monitoring Compliance: Ensure adherence to agreed-upon payment arrangements to prevent legal action.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including attorneys and debt collection agencies (DCAs).

  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with the legal recovery portfolio.

  • Financial Oversight: Verify and process invoices from legal service providers for accurate and timely payments.

  • Reporting: Compile and update reports on recoveries, providing management with accurate data for decision-making.

  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for optimizing recovery strategies and customer service.

2. Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all collection activities comply with legislative and regulatory frameworks in Tanzania.

  • Maintain adherence to Absa Bank’s policies and procedures regarding credit risk and recovery.

  • Monitor attorney performance to ensure legal recovery processes align with governance standards.

3. Customer Service and Conflict Resolution

  • Resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently.

  • Ensure professional communication with clients, attorneys, and collection agencies.

  • Provide recommendations for improving customer service related to recoveries.

4. Risk Management and Governance

  • Report all risk events, fraud, or financial losses to relevant authorities.

  • Ensure compliance with internal security policies regarding access to financial systems and confidential data.

  • Operate within delegated mandates to uphold banking governance standards.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Banking, Risk Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections and recoveries.

  • Strong knowledge of banking operations, particularly in post write-off recoveries.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet).

  • No criminal record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in post write-off recoveries within a financial institution.
