Role Overview
Equity Bank Tanzania is looking for a Credit Risk Officer to ensure the health and compliance of the bank’s credit portfolio. The officer will play a key role in early detection of problem loans, ensuring compliance with credit governance policies, and preventing financial loss.
This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, risk assessment expertise, and a solid understanding of banking regulations.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Portfolio Review & Risk Assessment

Conduct regular assessments of the bank’s credit portfolio.

Detect early warning signs of deteriorating loans.

Ensure that the portfolio classification and capital allocations comply with regulations.
✅ Credit Governance & Compliance

Ensure all underwriting controls and collateral management practices align with bank policies.

Assess and monitor adherence to BOT prudential guidelines.

Verify the adequacy of provisions for risk mitigation.
✅ Data Analysis & Reporting

Perform stress testing, vintage analysis, and portfolio health evaluations.

Prepare and communicate credit risk management reports.

Provide insights and recommendations for strengthening credit risk controls.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
📌 Education & Certification:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.

Additional certifications in Auditing, Accounting, Risk Management, or Information Systems Audit will be an advantage.
📌 Experience & Knowledge:

Minimum of 1 year in the banking sector.

Strong understanding of credit governance, banking operations, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.

Proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis tools.
