We are looking for a dynamic Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Manager to lead and enhance evidence-based decision-making across all Asante Africa Foundation programs. Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for impact measurement? If so, we want YOU on our team!
Your Role: What You’ll Do
As the MEAL Manager, you will spearhead our monitoring, evaluation, and learning efforts, ensuring high-quality, data-driven program implementation. You will report to the Director of Programs & Impact, work closely with Country Managers, and oversee a MEAL team based in East Africa and the USA. Your role will involve strategic leadership, mentoring, and developing efficient and effective MEAL structures for a fast-growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
📊 Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Leadership
Develop and implement a comprehensive MEAL strategy aligned with Asante Africa’s mission.
Oversee the design, collection, analysis, and reporting of data to assess program effectiveness.
Guide the development of results frameworks, ensuring clear objectives, outcomes, outputs, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Lead and manage internal impact evaluations, learning studies, and external collaborations.
Ensure that all programs maintain high-quality data collection, integrity, and analysis.
Develop and oversee impact dashboards to visualize key data and insights.
📑 Reporting & Accountability
Lead the creation of quarterly and annual donor reports, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
Utilize MEAL insights to guide program improvement and decision-making.
Ensure data transparency and accountability within teams and external stakeholders.
Provide support for baseline surveys, operations research, and qualitative & quantitative studies.
Conduct data quality audits to verify project data and assess the effectiveness of monitoring systems.
🛠 Strategic Program Support & Oversight
Ensure alignment between MEAL systems and program goals.
Collaborate with fundraising and grant teams to develop performance-driven proposals.
Drive continuous improvement in program quality, innovation, and learning.
Support new project launches in existing and new operational regions.
🌍 Collaboration & Capacity Building
Provide mentorship and technical coaching to MEAL and program teams.
Strengthen partnerships with local stakeholders, government agencies, and donors.
Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and adaptive learning.
What We’re Looking For
✔ Education & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, International Development, Statistics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in MEAL leadership roles within the non-profit sector.
Master’s degree preferred with at least 3 years of hands-on MEAL experience.
Proven expertise in data analysis, impact assessment, and program evaluation.
Strong technical skills in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
✔ Experience & Technical Expertise
Proven track record in designing and implementing M&E systems for large-scale programs.
Experience in education, gender, and youth-focused initiatives.
Knowledge of theories of change, logic models, data collection methodologies, and digital tools.
Strong experience with data management systems such as Excel, R, Python, STATA, SPSS, Tableau, Salesforce, or similar tools.
Ability to produce high-quality impact reports for diverse stakeholders.
Understanding of East African development landscapes and rural education challenges.
