Key Responsibilities:
As the Senior Fleet Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimizing the company’s extensive fleet of trucks, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include:
- Customer Management: Maintain clear communication with clients, keeping them informed of their cargo’s progress through accurate tracking reports. Effectively manage expectations and resolve complaints in collaboration with fleet planning and operations teams.
- Journey Management: Supervise project controllers, ensuring timely financial planning for trips, fuel allocation, and cash flow to drivers and service providers.
- Team Leadership: Oversee the project controllers’ performance, ensuring driver briefings and debriefings are conducted within 24 hours of truck loading or unloading. Lead the team in managing driver escalations, disciplinary issues, and handovers.
- Fleet Monitoring: Ensure all vehicles are tracked, and trips are executed without unnecessary delays. Ensure adherence to the Journey Management Plan (JMP) protocol.
- Incident Reporting: Take immediate action in case of vehicle faults or accidents, coordinating thorough investigations to prevent future occurrences.
- System Management: Use SAP and TMS online management systems to ensure accurate, timely trip documentation and invoicing processes.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all trips are legally compliant, and all necessary documentation is completed and processed correctly.
Education, Skills & Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should have:
- University Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Transport/Logistics, Business Management, or equivalent vocational experience).
- LEAN SIX SIGMA, Project Management, Safety Management, or Business Management qualifications (Desirable).
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire your team.
- Clear communication skills to convey information efficiently.
- Problem-solving skills to overcome operational challenges and drive continuous improvement.
- Computer literacy to effectively operate fleet management systems.
- Attention to detail and flawless administration skills to maintain accuracy in processes and procedures.
