Position Summary:
R4D is seeking a Program Director with a strong background in healthcare financing to lead its projects in Tanzania. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP) and the Senior Health Financing Director, the Program Director will play a pivotal role in advancing health financing efforts, managing health economics activities, and supporting strategic partnerships in Tanzania.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership (60%):
- Provide direction and leadership in the design and execution of health financing activities.
- Lead health economics analysis in areas like resource mapping, public financial management, strategic purchasing, and provider payment models.
- Supervise direct and indirect reports, providing guidance and mentoring.
- Oversee project work plans, budgets, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
External Relations and Stakeholder Management (25%):
- Act as a liaison between R4D and health financing stakeholders in Tanzania, including government bodies.
- Foster collaboration opportunities across R4D offices in other regions and countries.
- Lead business development efforts and cultivate partnerships for health financing initiatives.
Monitoring, Learning, and Evaluation (15%):
- Develop learning products, including knowledge-sharing events and reports.
- Monitor project performance and document results at local, regional, and global levels.
- Adapt and enhance analytical tools to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications:
- MSc in health economics, health financing, public health, or a related field (PhD preferred).
- 10 years of professional experience, with at least 8 years in global health.
- Proven expertise in health financing, including policy development, fiscal space analysis, and cost-effectiveness.
- Experience in managing large teams and working with Tanzanian stakeholders.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
