The RISE Project, funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and USAID, focuses on HIV prevention through Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) in various regions of Tanzania. The project runs from October 2024 to September 2025 and aims to reach national VMMC targets while ensuring quality and safety in healthcare services.
Position Overview: Assistant Quality Assurance
As an Assistant Quality Assurance, you will be at the forefront of leading Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities across project-supported regions. You’ll collaborate with VMMC trainers and health officials to implement national quality standards for VMMC services. Your work will focus on mentoring healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to standards, and promoting a culture of quality across Tanzania's health system.
This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in healthcare quality improvement, particularly those who have worked in collaboration with organizations like PEPFAR, USAID, and the Ministry of Health (MOH).
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your core responsibilities will include:
- Promoting National Quality Standards: Raise awareness about MOH’s minimum standards for VMMC services and ensure they are integrated into healthcare practices.
- Lead Quality Improvement Initiatives: Drive quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with national guidelines and collaborating with stakeholders to track progress and outcomes.
- Root Cause Analysis: Work with local health teams to analyze and address persistent challenges in service delivery, fostering locally led solutions to improve healthcare.
- Remediation Planning: Support facilities in creating and implementing action plans to address any gaps in quality identified through internal or external assessments.
- CQI Knowledge Management: Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices, contributing to the project's broader knowledge base and facilitating continuous improvement.
- Capacity Building & Mentorship: Mentor healthcare professionals and regional teams in CQI principles and tools, helping to build a strong foundation for sustainable quality improvement.
What You’ll Bring
The successful candidate for this role will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in medicine or nursing or a relevant diploma with at least 2 years of experience in quality assurance or performance improvement.
- Technical knowledge of CQI and clinical mentoring, with experience in PEPFAR or USAID-funded programs preferred.
- Experience in adult learning and training methodologies, with the ability to facilitate workshops and mentor diverse teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with regional and council health teams.
- Fluency in Kiswahili and English, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Willingness to travel to rural and hard-to-reach areas, up to 50% of the time.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
