The Role: Director of Finance
As the Director of Finance, you will serve as a strategic partner to the Country Director and the Executive Management Team (EMT), driving the financial management that supports MST’s long-term goals. Your responsibilities will include crafting accurate budgets, overseeing financial systems, and ensuring compliance with both Marie Stopes International policies and local regulations. You’ll also be instrumental in guiding MST through sustainable financial growth, ensuring that the organization is equipped to continue its vital work for years to come.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: As a member of the EMT, you will provide guidance in financial planning, ensuring all decisions are financially sound.
- Budgeting and Financial Planning: You will devise realistic and inclusive budgets for MST’s country program, donor bids, and sub-departments.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure MST’s financial systems are compliant, efficient, and enable accurate reporting, meeting both local statutory requirements and MSI’s policies.
- Capital and Investments: Oversee MST’s working capital, investments, and financial obligations, ensuring they are managed effectively.
- Audits and Oversight: Manage internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and maintaining transparency.
- Operations Management: Provide leadership in procurement and stock management, optimizing operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
This role demands a high level of expertise, both in financial management and leadership. Ideal candidates will have:
- At least 6 years of experience in a senior management position, preferably in a donor environment.
- A proven track record in managing large divisions or organizations, with experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Hands-on experience with computerized accounting systems, with knowledge of Sun Systems as a plus.
- A qualified accountant (ACCA/CPA) with a deep understanding of financial systems, donor contracts, and audits.
- Strong communication skills, capable of interacting with government officials, donors, and colleagues in diverse locations.
