At Railway Children Africa (RCA), we don’t just work for children; we fight for them. Every single day. We’re warriors, united by a shared passion to change the lives of children who find themselves living alone on the streets or in long-term shelters. Our mission is unwavering—we aim to give these vulnerable young people a brighter, safer, and more secure future. And now, we’re looking for dedicated individuals to join us in this battle as we continue to make an impact that lasts a lifetime.

This October, we are thrilled to announce two full-time job opportunities in Mwanza and Dar es Salaam. We’re looking for motivated people to fill the positions of Project Team Lead in our Economic Strengthening and Livelihood Program. These roles will play a pivotal part in transforming the economic futures of street-connected youth and young people at risk, including Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW).

Why Railway Children Africa?

Imagine waking up every day knowing that your work directly changes the course of a child’s life. At Railway Children Africa, this isn’t just a possibility—it’s the reality. We provide an environment that fosters hope, resilience, and opportunities for young people. Whether it's through skill-building, leadership development, or simply offering a listening ear, we’re in the business of creating sustainable, positive changes.

If you have the drive, compassion, and determination to help young people transition from life on the streets into self-sufficient, productive individuals, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

The Role: Project Economic Strengthening and Livelihood Lead

As a Project Team Lead in the Economic Strengthening and Livelihood Program, you’ll be responsible for shaping the future of street-connected youth. Your role will be to lead initiatives designed to improve the economic well-being of young people who are often forgotten by society. Whether it’s helping them develop entrepreneurial skills or vocational training, you’ll be providing these individuals with the tools they need to secure sustainable livelihoods.

You’ll also play a critical role in programmatic leadership, guiding and overseeing programs that directly impact the youth we work with. These initiatives will focus on equipping young people, especially vulnerable Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW), with the skills they need to escape poverty, avoid exploitation, and build a future they can be proud of.

In addition to working with youth, this role will require you to collaborate with shelters, families, and other stakeholders to ensure that the immediate needs of these children are met. This could involve reunifying children with their families or finding safe, long-term housing solutions for those who need it most.

What We’re Looking For

We need someone with the flexibility, compassion, and leadership skills to take on the challenges of this role. You’ll need to be able to think on your feet, as each day presents new challenges when working with at-risk youth. The ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of vulnerable children will be essential to your success.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about making a tangible, lasting difference.

Why You Should Apply

Working for Railway Children Africa is not just a job—it’s a calling. By joining our team, you’ll become part of a community that believes in the power of change. If you’re looking for a job where your skills can be used for a greater good, this is the opportunity for you.
