Job Purpose:

The Regional Talent Management Advisor reports to the Regional People & Culture Director and is responsible for developing and implementing a regional talent management strategy that aligns with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to strengthen organizational capabilities. The role includes managing talent and leadership development initiatives across East Africa.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Talent Management (25%)

  • Develop and promote an integrated talent management strategy aligned with global standards.
  • Coordinate regional annual talent reviews, providing guidance to regional offices and leadership.
  • Monitor and report on talent management efforts using People & Culture Information systems.
  • Produce impact stories on talent and leadership initiatives.
  • Guide succession planning with a focus on diversity targets.

2. Leadership & Management Development (25%)

  • Promote leadership’s understanding of learning and development ecosystems.
  • Integrate learning practices with performance management and leadership development.
  • Deliver learning solutions for regional managers and national office (NO) senior managers.
  • Monitor and evaluate leadership competency development.
  • Coordinate regional 360-degree leadership surveys to enhance competencies.

3. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (25%)

  • Identify organizational gaps related to DEI and implement strategies to address them.
  • Lead the design of DEI learning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to evaluate DEI efforts.
  • Support redesign of people management practices through a DEI lens.
  • Equip People & Culture leaders with DEI knowledge for effective implementation.

4. Process Improvement Projects (15%)

  • Lead People & Culture process improvement projects to enhance agility and efficiency.
  • Monitor the implementation of People & Culture strategies and provide reports.
  • Track workforce planning, diversity targets, and performance management metrics.

5. Knowledge Management (10%)

  • Facilitate learning and knowledge sharing across the East Africa region.
  • Document and disseminate best practices in People & Culture.
Contribute to the community of practice and regional knowledge management strategies.

 Knowledge/Qualifications for the Role:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ People & Culture experience, ideally in an NGO.
    • At least 5 years’ experience in P&C management and staff development.
    • Regional/global HR generalist experience.
    • Knowledge in talent management and DEI programs.
    • Experience with workforce planning models or systems.
    • Skills in learning & development facilitation and auditing.
    • Experience working with multicultural teams.
  • Skills:

    • Training design, delivery, and impact measurement.
    • Excellent communication, facilitation, and module development skills.
    • Ability to manage confidential information.
    • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Master’s degree and professional certifications in HR or related fields are an advantage.                                                                                                                  Work Environment and Travel:
  • The position is office-based with up to 30% travel across the East Africa region.

  Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
