Solidaridad Network Tanzania is closing out a transformative project, "Passport to Coffee Export" (PACE), aimed at revolutionizing coffee farming in Tanzania. Funded by the EU, this project supports smallholder coffee farmers in Mbeya, Ruvuma, and Songwe regions, focusing on sustainability, productivity, and income growth. Through this initiative, Solidaridad has partnered with key local organizations like the Tanzania Coffee Research Institute (TACRI) and Envirocare to improve agricultural practices, foster value addition, and enhance marketing opportunities.

Project Impact: Empowering Farmers and Communities

PACE targets 22,500 coffee farmers, including 52% youth and women, to adopt sustainable farming methods and increase productivity. The project's impact aims to raise incomes and improve food security by introducing advanced farming practices, job creation, and export-oriented business models.

Key Project Outcomes

1. Enhanced Productivity and Nutrition: Supporting farmers to grow healthier, more profitable crops.

2. Increased Incomes through Job Creation: Creating local employment opportunities within the coffee value chain.

3. Boosted Coffee Sales and Exports: Connecting farmers to international markets, emphasizing Tanzanian coffee quality.

4. Value Addition and Sustainable Marketing: Training factory workers and equipping processing centers with skills for better quality and resource efficiency.

Measuring Success and Planning for the Future

With the project concluding, an end-of-project evaluation will assess its success, uncovering lessons learned and areas for improvement. Solidaridad aims to document best practices, assess sustainability, and ensure that positive impacts continue beyond the project's lifetime.
