Job Overview: Regional Operations Advisor III, EARO
Location: Remote (must be based in East Africa time zone for at least 4 hours of overlap with working hours)
Reporting To: Deputy Regional Director for Operations, EARO
Employment Type: Full-Time
In this role, you'll provide senior operational leadership across the EARO region, with a strong focus on risk management, internal controls, and operational efficiency. As the Regional Operations Advisor, you'll partner with audit, compliance, and regional teams to enhance agency operations and reduce risk across all CRS projects.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Management: Lead proactive risk identification, assessment, and mitigation for EARO, collaborating with internal audit and compliance teams.
Fraud Prevention and Compliance: Manage fraud case timelines, liaise with Ethics Units, and ensure timely reporting and corrective actions.
Internal Audits: Partner with country program management on audits and compliance reviews, making actionable recommendations for improvement.
Capacity Building: Develop and facilitate training on operational processes, particularly for risk and compliance at country and partner levels.
Proposal Support: Contribute to project proposals, focusing on risk management, compliance, and operational structures.
Emergency Support: Travel as needed to high-risk countries for temporary direct support in emergency or new program situations.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum 8 years with an international organization in operations or risk management, with at least 3 years in a similar capacity within a country program.
Skills: Strong relationship management, analytical thinking, systems thinking, and ethical conduct. Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of tools like PowerBI and Power Automate is preferred.
Preferred Knowledge & Abilities
Experience with donor regulations (e.g., USAID, World Bank, EU)
Familiarity with COSO’s Internal Control Framework or internal auditing standards
Knowledge of data analytics and process improvement best practices
