Responsibilities of the Role
As the General Manager – Retail Distribution, you will:
1. Develop Sales Strategies: Create and implement strategies to expand the individual life insurance business across Tanzania.
2. Manage the Distribution Team: Lead a team of over 200 sales representatives across different locations, including remote teams.
3. Drive Product Development: Oversee the entire product development process, from ideation to launch, ensuring market readiness.
4. Enhance Digital Sales: Strengthen direct sales through digital and online platforms, increasing efficiency and reducing distribution costs.
5. Build Partnerships: Collaborate with banks, brokers, and agents to enhance distribution channels and improve customer reach.
6. Ensure Profitability: Optimize operations to boost production, control costs, and increase profitability within the retail business.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- A minimum of 15 years in retail sales within a life insurance company.
- Proven track record of managing a sales portfolio worth TZS 15 billion or more.
- At least 5 years of experience leading profit center functions.
- Expertise in managing partnership channels such as banks or large brokers.
- Advanced knowledge of financial statements and cost management.
- Professional qualifications like an ACII (UK), III (India), LOMA (USA), or an MBA in Sales, Marketing, or General Management.
