Job Summary

As the Institutional Marketing and Communications Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping CRS's influence and thought leadership within the East Africa Region Office (EARO). Your expertise in communications and strategic positioning will ensure CRS remains at the forefront of delivering impactful programming to the poor and vulnerable, while also driving resource mobilization and promoting CRS’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:

    • Support the EARO regional strategy by advancing its influence and thought leadership objectives.
    • Provide technical guidance to Country Program (CP) teams in developing marketing and communication plans that showcase CRS’s programs and innovations.
  • Donor Engagement:

    • Design and implement donor engagement strategies, including the creation of impactful collateral.
    • Support documentation and dissemination of results and innovations, integrating themes like local leadership, SDP, and climate resilience.
    • Use analytics to inform communication goals and improve content creation.
  • Proposal Development:

    • Lead marketing and communication strategies for complex proposals.
    • Position CRS competitively by aligning communication tactics with donor priorities.
    • Proactively contribute to pre-positioning strategies for resource mobilization.
  • Capacity Strengthening:

    • Develop training programs and mentor CP staff to enhance their communication skills.
    • Lead virtual and in-person workshops and create learning agendas tailored to organizational needs.
  • Knowledge Management:

    • Collaborate with MEAL leads to align learning agendas with regional and CP priorities.
    • Ensure strategic marketing content is well-organized and accessible to avoid duplication.
  • Event and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Develop communication strategies for high-impact events and external audiences.
    • Cultivate relationships with key networks, including USAID missions and regional bodies, to enhance CRS’s visibility.
    • Plan outreach strategies to strengthen partnerships and prepare staff for effective representation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s Degree in International Relations or a related field.

  • Experience:

    • At least 5 years of relevant international experience in a leadership role, with a focus on East Africa.
    • Proven success in developing donor-centric strategies and materials.
    • Strong networking skills with donors, peers, and faith-based partners.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Proficient in storytelling, writing, and editing.
    • Knowledge of CRS’s core programming areas, including MEAL.
    • Experience in using social media and analytics tools.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English; Arabic is an added advantage.

  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 35%.
