Reports To: Operations Manager

Location: Rural Tanzania (requires travel within project areas)


Position Overview

Food for His Children (FFHC) is seeking a dedicated Field Officer to join our mission in empowering families in rural Tanzania to thrive both spiritually and materially. As a Field Officer, you will be the bridge between FFHC and the communities we serve, providing holistic case management and supporting family transformation through community engagement and discipleship.

This role involves extensive travel within rural areas by motorcycle or bicycle, ensuring hands-on support for beneficiaries. Applicants must hold a valid motorcycle license or be comfortable cycling in remote locations.


Key Responsibilities

Spiritual Development:

  • Facilitate individual discipleship sessions grounded in Biblical principles and the D4D framework, fostering spiritual growth and personal transformation.
  • Serve as a Christ-like role model, demonstrating integrity and compassion in all interactions.

Case Management:

  • Provide mentorship and coaching to help families set and achieve personal and program goals.
  • Conduct regular family visits to assess progress in key areas, including goat care, food security, and overall well-being.
  • Prepare detailed case notes and maintain comprehensive records of each interaction.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Develop and execute monitoring schedules to evaluate families’ progress toward the 16 Points of a Healthy Home.
  • Assist families in identifying and overcoming obstacles to their goals, offering practical support when needed.
  • Submit weekly participant stories to highlight their challenges, achievements, and personal growth.

Community Engagement:

  • Coordinate and attend savings group meetings to build relationships and encourage financial independence.
  • Conduct family interviews for new program participants and complete annual reviews to reassess needs and progress.
  • Oversee school involvement programs for participant families.

Data and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records in family files and the FFHC database, ensuring accessibility for reporting and donor relations.
  • Develop compelling family and child stories for fundraising efforts.

Compliance and Support:

  • Ensure participants adhere to FFHC contract terms and conditions.
  • Actively participate in departmental initiatives and other assigned tasks.

Required Qualifications

  • A heart to live and lead like Jesus, fully aligned with FFHC’s mission and values.
  • Diploma in Community Development or Social Work.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in community development or social work.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili (spoken and written).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Proven ability to engage with diverse communities and address complex challenges effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid motorcycle license and ability to ride confidently (mandatory).
