About the Programme
In partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, BRAC International is delivering a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and benefiting 9.5 million people across seven countries, including Tanzania.
This initiative addresses the challenges AGYW face in low-income communities, particularly those exacerbated by global crises. By equipping them with skills, tools, and resources, the program ensures their transition from adolescence to adulthood is safe and fulfilling, enabling them to achieve sustainable livelihoods and advocate for their rights.
Position Overview
Job Title: Communications Officer
Location: Dar es Salaam, Country Office
Employment Type: Contractual
As the Communications Officer, you will play a pivotal role in amplifying BRAC’s impact by creating and implementing strategic communication initiatives. Your work will ensure BRAC’s programs, achievements, and mission resonate with both internal and external audiences.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communication:
- Design and execute communication plans that effectively promote BRAC’s programs and initiatives.
Content Creation:
- Develop engaging content for websites, social media, newsletters, and press releases.
- Write, edit, and distribute marketing materials, including annual reports, speeches, and brochures.
Event Coordination:
- Plan and manage events such as conferences, workshops, and outreach programs.
Media Relations:
- Build relationships with media professionals to secure positive coverage.
- Monitor media trends and track coverage analytics.
Internal Communications:
- Disseminate organizational updates via newsletters, memos, and announcements.
Visual Storytelling:
- Collaborate with consultants and content creators to produce impactful visual materials.
Translation:
- Translate communication materials as needed to cater to diverse audiences.
Safeguarding:
- Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to and promoting safeguarding policies.
- Actively address safeguarding concerns following organizational procedures.
What We’re Looking For
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, or Public Relations.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in communications, public relations, or journalism.
- Prior experience in the NGO sector is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong content creation and graphic production skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
- Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.
