Position Overview

Zanzibar Pearl Boutique Hotel & Villas is seeking an experienced and dynamic Operations Manager with a flair for guest relations and managerial excellence. This individual will be responsible for ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and supporting the General Manager in strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commercial acumen, leadership skills, and a passion for hospitality.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Management:

  • Oversee all hotel departments and ensure smooth coordination across teams.
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure operational efficiency and guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct routine inspections across departments to ensure compliance with SOPs, cleanliness, and service standards.
  • Ensure that the hotel premises are in excellent condition to receive and serve guests.
  • Monitor stock levels, quality, and expiry of inventory, collaborating with F&B and kitchen teams.
  • Regularly review customer satisfaction metrics and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Schedule and lead staff meetings, providing training and feedback as needed.
  • Be available 24/7 to address urgent operational issues.

Assistant Manager Duties:

  • Conduct employee performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Resolve workplace challenges and employee concerns to maintain a harmonious environment.
  • Participate in recruitment processes and employee development initiatives.
  • Serve as the Acting General Manager during their absence, making executive decisions and providing accountability.
  • Liaise between staff, customers, and the management team to ensure efficient operations.

Guest Relations:

  • Deliver upscale, personalized service experiences for guests throughout their stay.
  • Supervise guest arrivals and departures, ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process.
  • Address guest concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate communication between guests and staff to meet guest needs effectively.
  • Promote hotel amenities, dining options, and local attractions to enhance guest experiences.
  • Analyze guest feedback, both direct and online, and recommend strategies to improve ratings.

Required Skills and Attributes

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Proven experience in hotel management or guest relations, preferably in upscale hospitality.
  • Proficiency in hotel management systems (PMS) and technology.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an asset.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on delivering outstanding guest experiences.
  • Professional presentation and demeanor.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a managerial role within a 3- to 5-star hotel setting.
