The Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) invites qualified and dedicated Tanzanians to apply for several exciting employment opportunities within the School of Dentistry. These positions are on a two-year contract basis, offering a chance to contribute to healthcare excellence in Tanzania.

Available Positions

1. Dental Surgeons – 2 Posts

Qualifications:

  • A Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from a recognized institution.
  • Successful completion of a one-year internship.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika as a Dental Officer and a valid practicing license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide routine and emergency dental care for in-patients and out-patients.
  • Prepare patients for procedures or surgeries and conduct post-operative follow-ups.
  • Participate in ward rounds, case presentations, and journal clubs.
  • Engage in the preparation of medical reports and research activities.
  • Take part in community outreach programs and continuous professional education.

Salary Scale: PMGSS 8

2. Medical Specialist II (Anesthesiologist) – 1 Post

Qualifications:

  • A Master of Medicine (MMed) in Anesthesiology.
  • Holder of a Doctor of Medicine degree.
  • Completion of a one-year internship.
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Tanganyika and a valid practicing license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-operative evaluations and monitor surgical patients’ vital signs during procedures.
  • Administer general anesthesia and manage pain during and after surgeries.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams for effective patient management.
  • Ensure airway management and life support during emergency surgeries.
  • Oversee post-operative care and determine patient stabilization.

Salary Scale: PMGSS 11

3. Anaesthetist (Anesthesia) – 1 Post

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nurse Anesthesia.
  • Registration with the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council (TNMC).
  • Successful completion of a one-year internship and possession of a valid practicing license.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms and administer anesthetics for surgical procedures.
  • Manage life functions during anesthesia and provide post-operative care.
  • Monitor and address patients’ pain management needs.
  • Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations and administer medications as needed.
  • Document procedures and follow up on patient recovery.

Salary Scale: PMGSS 6

  1. Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens not older than 45 years.
