About the Position: Head of Finance
AKU is seeking a highly experienced Head of Finance to join its Finance Department in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This full-time leadership role is critical to ensuring strong financial management, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial planning.
The Head of Finance will oversee various financial functions, including:
✔ General accounting
✔ Treasury and working capital management
✔ Payroll processing
✔ Accounts payable
✔ Tax compliance and reporting
✔ Financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
This role is integral in maintaining internal financial controls, safeguarding financial integrity, and providing strategic financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Financial Management: Lead core financial operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and accuracy.
🔹 Planning & Budgeting: Oversee budgets, forecasts, business plans, and feasibility studies.
🔹 Internal Controls & Compliance: Implement robust financial controls, ensuring adherence to IFRS, IAS, and tax regulations.
🔹 Working Capital & Treasury: Manage cash flow, investments, and working capital for financial stability.
🔹 External Audits & Tax Compliance: Supervise audits and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
🔹 Reporting & Analysis: Provide insights and recommendations through financial reports and analyses.
🔹 Team Leadership: Guide and mentor the finance team, fostering professional growth and efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
✅ Professional Certification: CPA(T), ACCA, ACA, CIMA, ACMA, or equivalent.
✅ Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
✅ Work Experience: Minimum 5 years in a senior finance role within a reputable organization.
✅ Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of general accounting, tax compliance, working capital management, and financial planning.
- Hands-on experience in external audits, reporting, and grant budget management.
- Deep understanding of IFRS, IAS, and financial regulatory frameworks.
✅ Skills & Competencies: - Exceptional supervisory and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English.
