Role Overview: Project Manager (Office Relocation)
As a Project Manager at the Dar es Salaam Country Office, you will lead and oversee the seamless relocation of WFP Tanzania’s office to the UN Common Premises. This entails managing all aspects of the project, including space planning, financial administration, contractor compliance, and operational readiness.
Working under the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director, you’ll ensure all deliverables are met, risks are mitigated, and compliance with WFP standards and protocols is achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning: Analyze relocation proposals and recommend optimal solutions.
- Budgeting: Develop and refine detailed budgets for office setup, equipment procurement, and relocation expenses.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with internal units, external stakeholders, UNDSS, and other UN agencies to ensure a unified approach.
- Procurement: Prepare scopes of work and coordinate with relevant units for the purchase of furniture, security equipment, and office essentials.
- Technical Oversight: Ensure compliance with national construction standards, WFP protocols, and health and safety regulations.
- Site Visits: Conduct assessments of the new office premises to verify adherence to project specifications.
- Reporting: Provide weekly updates on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Facility Management Support: Equip the Country Office with tools and guidance to manage the new office effectively.
- Compliance: Ensure all asset disposals and administrative procedures align with WFP policies.
Deliverables by End of Contract
- Comprehensive analysis and recommendations on office relocation proposals.
- Updated project budget, including all relocation and setup costs.
- Procurement of necessary furniture, equipment, and security items.
- Submission and approval of CBF documentation.
- Alignment of facility data with GEMS and ARCHIBUS systems.
- Reviewed and revised administration SOPs in line with established policies.
- Comprehensive facilities assessment and project handover package.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education:
- University degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Real Estate, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in real estate management or project management.
Skills & Competencies:
- Professionalism: Expertise in administrative, financial, and project management practices.
- Communication: Clear and concise verbal and written skills with a collaborative mindset.
- Planning & Organizing: Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders while anticipating risks and contingencies.
- Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of facility certifications, including fire safety and seismic standards.
- Leadership: Proven ability to guide and motivate cross-functional teams.
Language Requirement:
- Fluency in English is essential.
