Property Management Assistant Job Opportunity at the United Nations / IRMCT

Service Fee: TZS 201,544 per day
Location: Arusha, Tanzania
Contract Duration: 6 months, with a possible 3-month extension (starting February/March 2025)

About the Role

The United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Property Management Assistant to join its General Services Section/Administration Services, Registry, Arusha Branch. The selected candidate will support property management operations and asset control while ensuring efficiency in inventory and supply chain processes.

Supervision: Reports to the Property Management Assistant, under the overall guidance of the General Services Officer.

🔹 Note: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an assessment/interview. The successful applicant will be engaged as an Individual Contractor (IC).


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with receiving and inspecting incoming shipments to verify compliance with documentation.
  • Support the property disposal process, including maintaining records of assets for sales, trade-ins, donations, destructions, and write-offs.
  • Conduct physical inventory verifications of property, plants, and equipment in line with UN guidelines.
  • Aid in warehouse management, ensuring stock requisitions are processed correctly and delivered to designated offices.
  • Maintain accurate records of goods issuance, handover, and receipts.
  • Assist in verifying and signing Clearance Certificates for departing personnel.
  • Perform other duties as required to support general property management and administrative functions.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant experience in administration, asset management, warehousing, supply chain, inventory control, or real estate/facilities management.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in organizing and summarizing data for reporting.
    • Experience working with management control systems/databases for assets and materials is preferred.
    • Good command of Microsoft Excel is an added advantage.
    • Previous experience with UN International Criminal Tribunals is desirable.

Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of Swahili is an added advantage.

Additional Information

Local Recruitment: This position is open only to candidates who are authorized to work in Tanzania and reside in or near Arusha.

Contract Terms:

  • The appointment is limited to the IRMCT and subject to funding availability.
  • This is not a UN Secretariat position; there is no expectation of reassignment within the UN system.
