About the Serengeti Ecosystem Conservation Programme (SECP)
The Serengeti Ecosystem Conservation Programme (SECP) is dedicated to preserving one of the world’s most iconic landscapes by protecting biodiversity, fostering sustainable tourism, and engaging local communities in conservation efforts. To further strengthen partnerships and secure funding for our initiatives, we are seeking a dynamic Fundraising & Communications Liaison Officer.
This role will focus on engaging nature-based tourism businesses operating in the Serengeti, mobilizing financial support for SECP, and amplifying FZS’s conservation impact. If you are passionate about conservation, strategic partnerships, and effective communication, this opportunity is for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Fundraising & Partnerships – Develop and implement engagement strategies to encourage tourism operators to financially support conservation efforts.
- Donor & Partner Engagement – Cultivate relationships with new and existing stakeholders to drive funding and in-kind contributions.
- Event & Campaign Management – Organize fundraising events and campaigns in collaboration with tourism partners.
- Communication & Outreach – Create compelling communication materials to showcase conservation successes and community impact.
- Representation & Advocacy – Represent SECP and FZS at tourism industry events, highlighting conservation challenges and opportunities.
- Monitoring & Reporting – Track fundraising initiatives, analyze impact, and refine strategies for greater effectiveness.
- Media & Public Relations – Act as a liaison between tourism businesses and media, ensuring alignment with SECP’s communication goals.
- Cross-Team Collaboration – Support other conservation programmes with fundraising and communication needs.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, marketing, communications, environmental science, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fundraising, donor relations, or partnership management.
- Strong understanding of conservation issues and the ability to communicate their urgency effectively.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining successful stakeholder partnerships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in content creation (e.g., newsletters, reports, social media).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Fluency in English (Kiswahili proficiency is an added advantage).
- Photography & basic editing skills (advanced skills desirable).
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and other design tools is a plus.
