Exciting Internship Opportunity in Facilities Management!

The General Services Section of the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) invites applications for an Electrician Intern position. This internship is unpaid and requires a full-time commitment of five days per week.

The IRMCT continues essential functions previously managed by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). The Mechanism is dedicated to maintaining the legacies of these pioneering courts while upholding the best practices in international criminal justice.


Key Responsibilities:

✔ Assist in facility maintenance activities, including electrical installations
✔ Conduct field assessments and prepare work reports
✔ Supervise on-site contractor activities
✔ Draft as-built drawings to document new developments and modifications
✔ Support general electrical and mechanical operations within the organization
✔ Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor


Qualifications & Special Skills:

To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application:

Option 1: Be currently enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Option 2: Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (Master’s Degree or higher)

🎓 Relevant Fields of Study: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related disciplines.

🚀 No prior professional experience is required, but the field of study must be relevant to the internship position.


Language Requirements:

Fluency in English (mandatory)
Knowledge of Swahili (preferred but not required)
✔ French is a working language at IRMCT, but not required for this position

🌍 Non-citizens or non-residents of Tanzania must obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization
