Position: Senior Relationship Manager – Fund Management (1 Position)

📍 Job Location: Head Office

Job Purpose:

Join NMB Bank PLC as a Senior Relationship Manager – Fund Management and take charge of growing and retaining a portfolio of institutional banking clients (Government and Private Institutions). This role requires sourcing, negotiating, and managing donor and investor funds within and outside Tanzania to support project financing and institutional growth.


Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Relationship Management & Business Growth

  • Strengthen relationships with fund management clients through regular engagement and tailored banking solutions.
  • Lead negotiations with donors, investors, and key stakeholders to secure funding opportunities.
  • Develop comprehensive fund management proposals (Bids & Expressions of Interest) for stakeholders.
  • Identify, target, and onboard new fund management customers while capitalizing on cross-selling opportunities.
  • Explore collaborations with external fund managers, offering NMB’s fund management solutions.
  • Gather critical data to support the preparation of fund management proposals and ensure alignment with client expectations.
  • Lead strategic discussions on fund management within the bank and develop operational frameworks.
  • Monitor and track income generated from fund management activities, ensuring financial efficiency.
  • Regularly review and update fund management processes, manuals, and procedures.
  • Work closely with product teams and other internal stakeholders to leverage NMB’s competitive advantages (e.g., network, balance sheet, and brand).
  • Drive ecosystem banking by identifying synergies across Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Agri-Business, Government Banking, and Retail Banking.
  • Ensure adherence to consumer protection regulations and compliance policies across institutional banking.

🔹 Customer Service Excellence & Efficiency

  • Deliver superior customer service, pricing strategies, and tailored banking solutions for institutional clients.
  • Act as a proactive liaison between clients, service teams, and risk functions to enhance service delivery.
  • Conduct in-depth financial needs assessments for clients and assist them in managing their financial portfolios.
  • Process client mandates and financial documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Utilize data analytics to identify opportunities for business expansion.
  • Develop and implement a structured client engagement plan to maintain strong relationships.

🔹 Risk & Compliance Management

  • Ensure full compliance with KYC requirements and self-assessment controls to mitigate risks.
  • Prepare and assess credit applications, managing client expectations regarding financial facilities.
  • Continuously monitor the regulatory environment, ensuring compliance with bank policies.
  • Maintain high operational controls, following risk management and compliance best practices.
  • Collaborate with Risk, Credit, Legal, and Compliance teams to maintain portfolio quality and adherence to risk appetite.
  • Oversee liability & loan book management, ensuring alignment with risk policies.
  • Maintain a comprehensive record-keeping system for all client-related documentation.

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

📌 Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of general banking operations, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • A deep understanding of institutional banking market dynamics, industry trends, and competitor strategies.
  • Expertise in fund management principles, financial modeling, and investment structuring.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills with a focus on institutional banking products and services.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial statements, risk factors, and economic indicators.
  • Proficiency in negotiation, sales, and business development strategies.
  • Fluent in English and Swahili, with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for financial reporting and presentations.

📌 Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Research, or related fields.
  • Master’s Degree (added advantage).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Fund Management, handling Global Development Organizations, donor-funded projects, and institutional banking services.
