Key Responsibilities
🔹 Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Lead the preparation of monthly funding requests to ensure AKU Tanzania’s working capital needs are met.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial reports covering revenues, grants, staff costs, and operational expenses.
- Collaborate with Deans, Directors, and key stakeholders to create detailed financial plans and variance analysis.
🔹 Grant Management & Compliance
- Oversee the Grants section within the Finance department, ensuring effective management of financial resources.
- Conduct financial and compliance reviews of grant proposals, contracts, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor financial plans for new research projects and bilateral grants.
🔹 Financial Reporting & Control
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and statistical reports for AKU Tanzania.
- Maintain a strong internal control environment, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
- Supervise the accounts payable and treasury functions, ensuring compliance with IAS, IFRS, and institutional policies.
- Oversee payroll processing and staff payments.
🔹 Audit & Risk Management
- Support external audit processes, working closely with the Head of Finance and the regional finance team.
- Lead the development of feasibility studies for new programs and financial proposals.
- Review grants and compliance reports, providing valuable insights to Principal Investigators, Deans, and Directors.
Qualifications & Professional Experience
✅ Certified Public Accountant (CPA-Tanzania) with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
✅ Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in treasury, general accounting, and financial management.
✅ Strong command of accounting principles, financial adjustments, and banking operations.
✅ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
✅ Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
✅ Working knowledge of ERP Financial Systems is highly desirable.
