🌟 About the Role

As an Adviser/Program Officer – Political Affairs, you will play a key role in analyzing Tanzanian and regional political developments, strengthening Norway’s diplomatic presence, and managing governance, peace, and human rights initiatives.

This role requires a proactive, analytical, and well-connected professional who can deliver sharp political insights, build partnerships, and support impactful development projects.


🎯 Key Responsibilities

1️⃣ Political Analysis & Reporting

✅ Provide in-depth political analysis on Tanzanian affairs and regional dynamics.
✅ Draft concise, insightful reports and policy briefs for the Embassy.
✅ Track key political, governance, and human rights developments in Tanzania and the region.

2️⃣ Stakeholder Engagement & Networking

✅ Expand the Embassy’s professional network across government, civil society, and international organizations.
✅ Represent the Embassy at diplomatic events, forums, and policy discussions.
✅ Contribute to public diplomacy initiatives to enhance Norway’s profile in Tanzania.

3️⃣ Program & Grant Management

✅ Oversee development cooperation agreements, ensuring alignment with Embassy priorities.
✅ Evaluate new project proposals, monitor ongoing projects, and close completed initiatives.
✅ Review budgets, financial reports, and compliance documentation.

4️⃣ Administrative & Logistical Support

✅ Organize meetings, events, and diplomatic engagements.
✅ Maintain accurate documentation and records for political and development projects.
✅ Assist with external communication, correspondence, and archiving.

5️⃣ Regional Engagement & Travel

✅ Occasionally travel within Tanzania and the region to strengthen Norway’s presence.


🔎 What We’re Looking For

📚 Education & Experience
🎓 University degree (Master’s preferred) in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Development Studies, or a related field.
🛠️ At least 3 years of experience in a political, diplomatic, or governance-related role—preferably in an international environment (Embassy, NGO, international media, etc.).

📌 Skills & Qualifications
Deep understanding of Tanzanian politics, governance structures, and key political actors.
✅ Proven ability to write high-quality reports, policy analyses, and briefings.
✅ Experience in grant management, project evaluation, and budget review.
✅ Strong ICT skills and familiarity with data management tools.
Fluent in English & Kiswahili (Additional language skills are a plus).
