📌 Position: Electro-Mechanical Technician (Individual Contractor)
📌 Daily Fee: 239,471 TZS
📌 Location: Arusha, Tanzania
📌 Duration: Initial 6-month contract, with a possible 3-month extension (starting February 2025)

About the Role

The United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) is looking for a skilled Electro-Mechanical Technician to join the General Services Section within the Registry. If you have a strong technical background and a passion for facility maintenance, this is a great opportunity to contribute to a global organization.

Key Responsibilities

🔧 Operate and maintain critical building equipment and systems, including:

  • Electrical power distribution
  • HVAC systems (centralized & split)
  • Water/fire pumps & control systems
  • Generators, ATS backup & UPS systems
  • Firefighting systems & plumbing
  • Elevators & solar power systems

Power Supply & Emergency Response:

  • Monitor 24/7 power supply to the Data Center, troubleshooting main and backup system failures.

🏗 Facility Upkeep & Preventive Maintenance:

  • Inspect and oversee HVAC installations and water storage systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and compile reports.
  • Assist in vendor selection for maintenance supplies.

🔨 Repairs & Construction Support:

  • Conduct electrical, plumbing, and office equipment repairs.
  • Handle welding, metal fabrication, and minor construction (e.g., partition installation, lock replacement).
  • Supervise external contractors and ensure quality assurance.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) + Technical Certificate in Electrical, Mechanics, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years in facilities management or a related technical field.
Desirable: Experience with UN International Criminal Tribunals.

Languages

🌍 Required: Fluency in English
🌍 Desirable: Knowledge of Swahili
