Key Responsibilities:
✔ Leadership & Safety: Foster a strong safety culture and promote best practices within the geology department and the broader mining operation.
✔ Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of geologists and technicians, ensuring high-performance geological activities.
✔ Grade Control Optimization: Implement effective grade control programs to maximize ore recovery while minimizing dilution.
✔ Technical Reporting: Prepare and deliver accurate daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly geological reports for mine operations.
✔ Geological Modeling: Develop and maintain geological models, incorporating data from drilling, field mapping, and observations to enhance resource estimation.
✔ Mine Planning Collaboration: Work closely with mining teams to provide expert geological insights for mine design and strategic planning.
✔ Budgeting & Forecasting: Plan, propose, and oversee budgets for the geology department, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
✔ Exploration & Drilling Management: Ensure drilling activities align with life-of-mine plans while maintaining productivity within budget forecasts.
✔ Data Integrity & Compliance: Uphold high standards of data accuracy, QA/QC protocols, and compliance with industry best practices.
✔ Continuous Improvement & Mentorship: Drive process enhancements and facilitate training initiatives to develop junior staff and enhance overall team capability.
Qualifications & Experience:
📌 Educational Background:
🎓 Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or a related field (Membership in a recognized professional geological organization is an advantage).
📌 Work Experience:
🔹 Minimum of 4 years’ experience in underground mine geology, with senior-level expertise preferred.
🔹 Technical proficiency in resource estimation, reconciliation methodologies, and geological modeling.
🔹 Strong experience in grade control, geological mapping, and structural analysis within a gold mining environment.
🔹 Expertise in sampling methodologies, QA/QC protocols, and assay procedures.
🔹 Advanced software proficiency in geological modeling and data management tools.
🔹 Proven leadership and mentorship experience within a geology department.
🔹 Strong problem-solving, analytical, and planning skills.
