WAJAMAMA Community Health is a women-led, grassroots NGO dedicated to improving the health and well-being of women, mothers, and children across sub-Saharan Africa. With a strong commitment to social change, we focus on enhancing healthcare systems through capacity-building programs for frontline workers, as well as pioneering our Group Care Model in Zanzibar to ensure critical healthcare services are accessible to marginalized communities.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Development and Finance Manager to join our growing team. This pivotal role will guide our financial strategy and lead the charge in securing funding to support WAJAMAMA’s impactful health initiatives. You will be instrumental in identifying new funding opportunities, managing financial operations, and cultivating partnerships to expand our reach and ensure the sustainability of our programs.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development:
🔹 Identify and secure funding from donors, governments, and private sector partners to support WAJAMAMA’s mission.
🔹 Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential partners, ensuring alignment with our goals and values.
🔹 Lead the creation and submission of high-quality proposals and reports to funders and stakeholders.
🔹 Seek out innovative partnerships and collaborations to expand WAJAMAMA’s impact both in Zanzibar and beyond.

Financial Management:
🔹 Oversee financial planning and budgeting, ensuring alignment with WAJAMAMA’s strategic objectives.
🔹 Manage financial reporting, accounting, and compliance with policies and legal requirements.
🔹 Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability and efficiency of WAJAMAMA’s programs.
🔹 Perform regular financial analysis to support decision-making and identify opportunities for cost optimization.

Strategy and Leadership:
🔹 Collaborate with WAJAMAMA leadership to develop long-term strategic plans that advance our mission.
🔹 Provide financial insights to guide program development and operational planning.
🔹 Facilitate cross-functional teamwork, integrating business development and financial operations.
🔹 Foster a culture of fiscal responsibility and strategic growth across the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

🎓 Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, International Development, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
💼 5+ years of experience in business development and financial management within the non-profit or social enterprise sector, preferably in health-related initiatives.
🏆 Proven track record in securing major grants and forming partnerships with a diverse range of funders.
📊 Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data and develop strategic insights.
