Matongo Gold Mines Ltd is searching for an experienced and dynamic Senior Mine Accountant to join our expanding finance team. This role is pivotal in supporting financial planning, analysis, and reporting, ensuring sound commercial stewardship across operations. Key Responsibilities:
✔ Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Oversee the activities of the accounting department to ensure smooth operations.
- Develop and present monthly management reports and annual statutory accounts.
- Ensure compliance with statutory returns, tax obligations, and regulatory frameworks.
- Maintain high accounting standards and ensure financial integrity.
✔ Budgeting, Cost Control & Forecasting:
- Monitor expenditures to align with approved budgets.
- Coordinate month-end processes and prepare management reports on operational results & capital expenditures.
- Analyze and forecast financials, including Life of Mine (LOM) planning.
- Work with cost owners to develop cost performance reports and variance analysis.
- Evaluate capital projects and contribute to strategic financial planning.
✔ Internal Controls & Financial Management:
- Design, implement, and monitor robust internal financial controls.
- Lead payment processing, invoicing, and payroll administration.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial reports to the management team.
- Identify significant budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and oversee compliance with tax deadlines.
✔ Team Leadership & Development:
- Mentor and support junior finance team members in their professional growth.
- Provide financial insights and support to operational personnel.
- Develop long-term financial plans that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
🎓 Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration (Accounting), or a related field.
📜 Professional Certification:
- Must hold Associate/Fellow CPA(T) certification.
- Must be registered with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).
📌 Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting, finance, or cost control roles.
- Prior experience in a mining environment or large-scale capital expenditure projects.
- Strong expertise in ERP financial systems (experience with Tally is an added advantage).
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and analytical thinking.
