About the Role: Employee Relations Associate
As an Employee Relations Associate, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and collaborative workplace environment. Your focus will be on labor relations, compliance with employment laws, union negotiations, and employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Labor & Employee Relations:
- Facilitate internal disciplinary hearings, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
- Represent JTI in labor court proceedings, defending the company’s position effectively.
- Develop and maintain Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) with unions to ensure a balanced employer-employee relationship.
✔️ Compliance & Policy Implementation:
- Maintain up-to-date employee records in both SAPHR and personal files.
- Develop, review, and enforce HR policies and procedures related to industrial relations.
- Advise managers on Tanzanian labor laws to ensure consistent compliance across departments.
✔️ Employee Engagement & Workplace Culture:
- Lead employee engagement initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive, and productive work environment.
- Promote best practices that enhance workplace satisfaction and drive team collaboration.
What You’ll Need:
🎓 Education & Experience:
✔️ University degree in Law, plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice/LL.M. or equivalent.
✔️ Hands-on experience in industrial relations, labor law compliance, and union negotiations.
📌 Key Competencies:
✔️ Fluent in English & Swahili (both written and spoken).
✔️ Strong communication & negotiation skills to handle union discussions and legal matters.
✔️ Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with employees and stakeholders.
✔️ Deep understanding of Tanzanian labor laws and practical experience in their application.
